Hey Blooms,

Happy Pancake Day!🥞

Now I do love a good Pancake tradition - fluffy stacks, syrupy goodness, and the occasional flip gone wrong. But last year's antics will forever be etched in my mind when a customer took things to a whole new level… let's just say it involved a promise ring, some questionable cooking skills, and a breakfast surprise no one saw coming.

And this promise came with extra syrup and a dash of chaos - you could say it was, one flippin' fantastic mix... (see what I did there😉)

What was the 'Pancake' Promise Ring?

"Pancake Day started like any other - until I woke up to the distinct smell of burning and the sound of my boyfriend, Jake, aggressively whispering "Oh no, no, no!" in the kitchen" - the ever-so-patient, Daisy, told me...

Now, to fully understand the red flag here, I need to tell you that I'm told, Jake's signature dish is cereal... Apparently, he once asked if pasta needed to be defrosted...

So when Daisy found him, covered in flour, wielding a spatula like a man on a mission, she knew something was up.

"Happy Pancake Day!" he announced proudly, flipping a pancake with the confidence of a pro – only for it to land half in the pan and half on the floor

She eyed the stack he placed in front of her, it was, uh, well... unique. Some pancakes paper-thin, others had the thickness of a birthday cake. All were drenched in maple syrup and topped with a cute smiley face made from blueberries.

“This looks… ambitious,” Daisy said, poking at the stack.

“Try the one in the middle,” Jake urged, practically vibrating with excitement.

She cut into the pancake and—clunk. Her fork had hit something solid.

“Did you forget to mix the flour?”

“Just keep going!”

Buried in syrup and questionable decision-making was a ring. She looked up—Jake was now on one knee, batter on his cheek.

"It's a promise ring" he said, taking my sticky syrupy hand in his.

“Because I promise that one day, I’ll propose for real—with a fancy dinner definitely cooked by someone else. But for now, I promise to love you… even when you laugh at my cooking.”

Daisy gasped. “You hid jewellery in food?! I could have choked.” Jake, looking proud of himself, said, "I watched a tutorial!" - as if that made it foolproof. "I just… underestimated the syrup situation."

Daisy couldn’t help it - she burst out laughing, tears in her eyes, syrup on her hands, completely in love with this ridiculous, wonderful man. She slid the (very sticky) ring onto her finger and kissed him.

"Yes to your pancake promise. And yes to loving you forever… but next year? I’m making breakfast."

Sure, it wasn’t the most traditional way to give jewellery. There was high potential for disaster, and a minor choking hazard. But it’s equally romantic and one of my favourite stories!

Love isn’t always candlelit dinners and perfect proposals—sometimes, it’s a little chaotic, a lot sticky, and completely unforgettable.🥞💍

With love and sticky pancakes…
