Jewellery Stories | Your Mind Matters
Jewellery has always held a special place in my life. Whether it's a piece gifted on a birthday, a ring marking a promise, or something you treat yourself to, just because - each piece carries its own story. When I started Elk & Bloom, I envisioned creating more than just beautiful, hypoallergenic jewellery; I wanted these pieces to be symbols - reminders that hold meaning, resilience, and comfort, no matter what life brings.
Recently, I noticed our safety pin necklace has become a top seller. At first, I was curious as to why and wondered about its meaning. After a little digging, I discovered that the safety pin is now often seen as a symbol of mental health and resilience. People wear it as a subtle way to say, “I’m here, I’m holding on.” When one of our customers included a message that read, “Promise us that you will stay,” I was genuinely moved and completely stopped in my tracks for a moment. It made me pause and think about how jewellery is often so much more than an accessory - it can be a quiet reminder of our inner strength.
I often talk about jewellery representing the biggest brightest moments of our lives, like a wedding, an graduation, or just one of our many tiny happy moments that we have in this lifetime, but it's important to remember that it represents all moments of life and sometimes the not so good too, to remember that better days are coming.
Jewellery, for many of us, is deeply personal and symbolic. Pieces like gold huggie hoops or a simple heart-shaped earring or even just a simple gold tiny heart bracelet can represent self-love, a meaningful reminder of our journey. Our life-proof, tarnish-free pieces - like the gold hoops and small huggie earrings - are designed to stay with you through it all. I often think of these pieces as “life-proof comforts” that stay with you, a bit of everyday strength that doesn’t fade or tarnish.
